‘You gotta have a Plan-B’ – wise words! And when it comes to this sling style pack I can see why.

Hazard 4 have produced on first appearances quite a remarkably versatile pack. The sling pack design allows wearers the choice whether it’s left or right shoulder mounted by simply adjusting the strap and switching the support/stabilising strap that goes around the side and helps prevent the pack slipping. Plus the main 4 inch wide main strap can be quickly attached and detached via the quick release buckle which also sports a lock mechanism to help prevent accidental release. For comfort the strap is also fitted with breathable ‘air-mesh’ which allows the air to circulate around and is fitted with enough molle straps to keep most people more than happy should they need to attach extra storage (maybe mag or comms pouches).

The ergonomics of comfort continues with the moulded back panel which like the air-mesh allows for cool air circulation and helps prevent articles in the pack from digging into you when fully laden. Set just behind the padded back panel is a separate soft lined compartment closed by a two-way zipper for a hydration bladder and comes complete with a loop for fixing it and a Velcro passage through for the feed tube, again the molle on the main shoulder strap proves useful for threading the tube through as well. A Source 3L or 2L pouch should fit just fine although I did find the 3L just a little wide and a tight fit.

The pack has one large main compartment closed by another 2 way zipper and as is the trend all the zippers are glove friendly with nice large zip pulls. Internally it is lined with a soft material and a padded Velcro divider which can be used as a divider or to help keep equipment in place. The compartment has two pockets with one located on the inside flap of the main compartment secured with a zip and the other which is elasticated and situated against the back of the compartment.

On the front of the Plan-B Sling Pack are two separate zipped compartments. The upper most one sports a nice Velcro area just crying out for a team patch. The lower compartment contains multiple ‘admin’ style fittings for pens and such like easily to hand. The outside of the lower pocket also contains 5x3 molle webbing whilst the sides of the pack also contain loads more molle webbing, 8x3 for more pouch attachments to be added should you wish (each side also has a large unsecured pocket). The webbing & molle used throughout the bag is well stitched and of good quality. Each end of the pack has a large and sturdy grab handle whilst at the top of the bag is also a small zipper to allow the passage of longer objects to be stowed – comms ariel or gun barrel perhaps!

The slim profile of this pack makes it highly suitable for those long skirmish days or weekends where you have to carry all your kit into the field with you, batteries, BB’s, waterproofs and whatever else. It hugs the back well and compresses down well by use of the compression straps which helps stream line the look and stop your kit shifting around. A great thing with the pack is the ability to rotate it around to the chest and access the main compartment and all the pockets are accessible from either right or left; this facility provides an ideal platform for those needing to transition in and out of vehicles quickly with this ability.

The Hazard 4 Plan B Sling Pack is made from durable Dupont 500D Cordora material and comes available in OD, Black, Coyote and of course A-TACS AU and Multicam, so something to match most load out styles.

Yosser says: This pack is proving more and more useful, especially when a full sized pack is just way too big. It carries just what I need it to and hangs nicely on the back of a car seat for road trips as well. It’s just so versatile it will be getting used for much more than just airsofting and with the addition of a 2L Source hydration pouch will be with me most days out and about walking the countryside during the summer months.
